A chubby baby might look cute. But being fat in yout pre-teens, teenage years into your adulthood can be a curse. According to estimates by 2030, 1 Billion People on the planet will be obese. The disturbing thing is, even today, many dangerously overweight people are in danger of developing chronic conditions and life threatening diseases. 

Self Esteem Is At Risk

Self confidence can be a real issue for someone who is overweight.  A lack of confidence for someone in their teens could greatly effect their socialization skills and ability to communicate. 

Work Is At Risk

Your work prospects could also be affected.  A prospective employer may be quick to pre-judge and equate your size with your level of motivation to do a job, thinking you lazy or not the right 'image' for their organization.  Although anti-discrimination laws exist around employment to stop this behavior in many cases the reality can be very different. 

Health Is At Risk

Although being overweight doesn’t mean you will automatically suffer from a disease, but if left unchecked and you don’t do anything to lose those extra pounds, you could eventually end up developing serious health problems such as:

  • Atherosclerosis (a process of progressive thickening and hardening of the walls of medium-sized and large arteries as a result of fat deposits on their inner lining)

Of course there is, as long as you have the dedication and perseverance to make the long-term life changing decisions needed to lose weight and become leaner and healthier.  The success you achieve in losing weight will impact many aspects of your life. A new you will feel so much more confident and self assured this will spill over into your work life, social life and even your love life too!

My friend lost weight. Why didn't her strategy work for me?

Everyone wants to have a body that they can be proud of. But not all people are taught the importance of proper diet and exercise at a young age, that’s why by the time some reach their teenage years – they can go through a rough time and can be a target for bullying if they are overweight. 

A large percentage of the American population is suffering from obesity which has sparked a strong demand of weight loss programs in recent years. However, just because a particular weight loss program has been effective for a friend does not mean the same weight loss program will work for you. In fact, it might never have an effect on your body. This is because the genetic make-up of your body is different to your friend, and your body could be requiring a more intense weight loss plan for you to start losing weight.

Consult The Experts

Keep in mind that not all weight loss remedies will work and some may even be harmful to your health. In order to verify things, do not hesitate to consult the experts and discuss your desire to lose weight and your goals with your physician, nutritionist and/or weight loss trainer.

Dedicate Yourself

Once you have sort the right advise regarding the type of weight loss remedy that is perfect for you, be sure to dedicate yourself and commit to that weight loss plan. A common mistake of those who are under a weight loss program is they tend to be enthusiastic or pumped-up at first, and when they don’t get dramatic results right away, within the first or second week of trying the program they quickly give up and jump on another weight loss plan.

When you seem to be doing all the right things but you’re not getting any progress, there are a couple of things that could be causing it. Here are the hard truths about weight loss and why some weight loss efforts do not really work.

Exercising andstill NOT losing weight?

Exercising means burning all the extra calories in the body, that’s why it is very important in a weight loss program that you engage yourself in calorie-burning activities. However, most of those who engage in exercise over calculate the calories they have burned. Remember that exercising does not guarantee that you will lose all the extra weight, so if you still eat a lot after you exercise, there will be no weight loss. Sadly, you might be eating up all the calories you burned.

Eating Healthy? Not really.

Your eating habits can pretty much tell you the reason why you are overweight. Most of the weight problems that people have blame it on the lack of exercise when the truth is that their food intake in the main culprit for the problem. Do you think you are eating healthy? Well, nobody really admits that the diet that they keep in unhealthy. If you compare yourself to the diet that other people follow, you can pretty much say that yours in the healthier one. But is it the healthiest diet option? You know you can so much better.

Stop and think again why you are not losing weight and these two factors will tell you why. Once you have overcome the problem dealing with these two, you can get your ideal weight in a matter of months.
